A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Trip support software provider iFlightPlanner has introduced monthly aviation fuel pricing reports with data culled from 3,350 FBOs and fuel service providers across the U.S.&nbsp;In its inaugural report, the company noted that fuel prices in the U.S. showed a general decrease last month. Full-service jet-A averaged $6.24 a gallon, a decrease of 13 cents versus November.
In the U.S. central region, pricing averaged $5.67 per gallon, down 26 cents month-over-month, while in the South, it was down 2.5% to $6.22 a gallon. Aside from Alaska ($8.09) and Hawaii ($7.85), the New England region saw the highest average price per gallon at $6.52, still an approximate 1% month-over-month decrease. For the contiguous U.S., the average price was $6.15 a gallon, while self-service jet-A averaged about $1 less per gallon.
Nationally, 100LL avgas pricing followed a similar trend. Full-service 100LL averaged $6.34 (with peaks of $10.19 and $9.92 for Alaska and Hawaii, respectively), a decrease of 4 cents (down 0.6%) from November, while 100LL self-service averaged $5.46, representing an approximate 14% savings where self-service fuel is available.
