Lilium will reveal the first full-scale mockup of its four- to six-passenger eVTOL later next month at EBACE, which will be held May 28 to 30 in Geneva. The German company is targeting the business aviation sector as the early adopter for its all-electric Lilium Jet.
Subject to achieving EASA type certification in late 2025, Lilium aims to begin deliveries to commercial operators in 2026. The aircraft—which features 30 ducted-fan electric motors installed in its wing and canard—is expected to operate on routes of up to around 95 nm at speeds of up to 135 knots.
Among the <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/futureflight/2024-02-20/philjets-operate-10-liliums-evtol-aircraft">prospective operators</a> to have signed sales agreements with Lilium are private flight providers Volare, EMCJet, Air-Dynamic, Globe Air, Bristow, and NetJets. The manufacturer is offering a four-passenger Pioneer Edition for the business aviation market, with owners able to customize the cabin. The standard Lilium Jet will have six passenger seats.
Lilium is now assembling the first production-conforming eVTOL aircraft as it prepares to start flight testing later this year. Earlier this month, the company’s engineering team started integrating <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/futureflight/2024-04-02/lilium-fits-garmin-standby-instruments-evtol-aircraft-cockpit">Garmin’s standby flight instruments</a> that form part of the Lilium Jet avionics suite. Another key supplier is Honeywell, which is providing fly-by-wire controls and electric motors.
During EBACE, Lilium head of flight operations and crew training Andreas Pfisterer and chief commercial officer Sebastien Borel will participate in panel sessions.
