Spanish business aircraft management group iJet Aviation is laying plans to operate eVTOL aircraft on routes in the country’s Andalusia region. On June 19, the company signed a provisional sales agreement with Madrid-based start-up Crisalion Mobility to acquire 10 of its in-development Integrity aircraft.
The Integrity is a five-passenger, piloted all-electric aircraft that Crisalion is aiming to bring to market in 2030. It is to be powered by the company’s proprietary FlyFree propulsion system, which features four sets of four-rotor units attached to a pair of booms on a fixed wing.
This&nbsp;<a href="https://www.ainonline.com/news-article/2023-12-01/crisalion-bets-its-flyfree-propulsion-concept-will-make-evtol-air-services">aircraft</a> is expected to have a range of up to around 100 kilometers (54 knots). According to iJet, it will operate the new model on routes connecting Málaga with Costa del Sol International Airport and various hotels and resorts. The route network might also extend to Puerto Banús, Marbella, Ronda, Gibraltar, and possibly North Africa.
Included with the iJet fleet of aircraft managed for private owners and (in some cases) offered&nbsp;for charter flights is the Bombardier Challenger 604, and a mix of the Cessna Citation CJ1, Mustang, and CJ3. The company, founded in 2018, also offers fractional ownership in various light general aviation aircraft and provides flight training for owners who want to fly themselves.
iJet and Crisalion announced the agreement at the Next Generation of Mobility Solutions event held at the Málaga Aeronautical Museum. Carlos García Giménez, territorial delegate of Andalusia’s regional government, was in attendance to signal support for the planned new services, along with the president of Málaga’s provincial council, José Francisco Salado, and several local mayors.
“The pre-sale of our Integrity aircraft and the designation of key routes in Málaga is clear evidence of how Spanish companies are innovating and adapting their outlooks to the advanced air mobility solutions their customers will be demanding within a few years,” said Crisalion Mobility CEO Carlos Poveda. “In 2030, mobility will look completely different from the way it is today.”
Last month, Crisalion announced a collaboration with Lyte Aviation, which is working on plans for a 40-passenger, hybrid-hydrogen-electric eVTOL aircraft called the LA-44 SkyBus. Both companies see the potential for the Integrity model to operate in tandem with this model to carry passengers on the last mile to and from vertiports after longer flights. Lyte is also developing a cargo version of the design called the LA-44C SkyTruck.
