<p>The UK DOT is seeking evidence, as well as broader feedback, on crop-derived sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). "This is to improve our understanding of the impacts and interactions on areas such as feedstock availability, industrial development, sustainability, and regulation," said the agency. Comments are specifically requested on the suitability of energy crops, cover crops, and food and feed crops. This request is in part to help support the UK's SAF mandate, which came into force on Jan. 1, 2025. The mandate seeks to gradually increase the percentage of SAF as jet engine fuel over the next 15 years. Responses to this request are due by March 16, 2026.</p>
