GPS Continues To Bring Airspace Modernization

 - July 18, 2018, 6:30 AM

One of the most disruptive technologies ever introduced to the aviation industry—GPS—is yet again transforming the airspace. GPS is powering major breakthroughs in precision navigation for more efficient flights, lower fuel costs, and increased safety.

Through Raytheon’s modernization of the STARS air traffic control system and major GPS programs such as GPS OCX, WAAS, and Joint Precision Approach and Landing System, the future airspace is emerging.

Beyond enhancing precision in aviation, cyber hardening GPS systems is critical to preventing malicious spoofing or hacking, which could at a minimum remove efficiency benefits, and worse, steer aircraft off course.
