Charles Alcock is managing editor of the AIN Media Group, having rejoined the company in 2019. He has been an aviation journalist since 1986, and previously worked for AIN from 1990 to 2017, most recently as editor-in-chief. His main focus is on covering new aviation technology and business models, as well as international news.
Having been raised in the London area, Alcock studied at the University of Manchester in the UK and earned an honors degree in Politics and Modern History. He speaks English and French, and some German.

The Air Charter Association (ACA) has selected 15 young people to take part in its 2026 internship program. The group includes a mix of recent high school graduates and college students, with eight women and seven men coming from countries including Angola, Spain, Slovakia, and the UK.
Aged between 18 and 25, the interns will receive a week of training at London Biggin Hill Airport in August with a mix of classroom instruction and onsite training at local business aviation companies. Each participant will then be allocated to one of ACA’s member companies for work experience based on their preferred career path, explained the organization’s training manager, Julie Ellis.&nbsp;
Each intern will prepare a research project based on their work experience during the program, which is to be completed by September 11, when the group will attend the ACE 2026 trade show at Biggin Hill. The author of the best report will be honored at the group’s annual Air Charter Excellence Awards in October.
“The experience I gained through The ACA internship has given me a strong foundation for starting my new role,” said Maisey Greenhow, a commercial executive for passenger flights with charter broker Chapman Freeborn. “In turn, I felt more confident when I started, knowing I already had that foundational knowledge, especially in an industry that is so specialist.”
The 2026 cohort was selected from almost 200 applications through a multi-step assessment process. Five of those who participated in last year’s program now have jobs with charter companies including Air Charter Service, Chapman Freeborn, CharterSync, and FlyerTech.
“The ACA Internship program is a great opportunity for passionate young people to experience the air charter industry, build connections, and develop their understanding," said The ACA's CEO, Glenn Hogben. “We are committed to inspiring the next generation of air charter professionals and look forward to supporting this year’s cohort of interns break into the industry.”
