A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Jet Aviation held the grand opening yesterday at its newest FBO: a 27-acre complex at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport (KOPF).&nbsp;The General Dynamics subsidiary <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2025-11-11/jet-aviation-and-running-miami">began</a> operations from a temporary facility at the location in November, making it the fifth service provider at KOPF.
Built to LEED environmental standards—with features such as solar panels, LED lighting, and low-flow water features—the FBO features an airy 8,500-sq-ft terminal with an open layout and floor-to-ceiling windows offering unobstructead views of the ramp and runway. Amenities include passenger and pilot lounges, office space, and a conference room.
The adjoining 40,000-sq-ft hangar has 30-foot-high doors to handle the latest ultra-long-range business jets, and the 12.4-acre ramp offers two taxiway connectors and customer vehicle access via a private gate. An on-site U.S. Customs and Border Protection is scheduled to open later this year.
Jet Aviation has had a presence in South Florida since 1985, when it opened its FBO in Palm Beach. “As our 12th FBO in the US, and one of the top five busiest business aviation destinations in the region, Miami is an important step in continuing to grow our network and services where our customers want us to be,” added David Best, the chain’s senior v-p and general manager for the Americas.
