West Star Aviation specializes in airframe repair and maintenance, engine repair and maintenance, major modifications, avionics installation and repair, interior refurbishment, paint, parts, surplus avionics sales, window repair and accessory services.

For operators of aircraft equipped with legacy avionics, continued product support can become just as important as the performance of the equipment itself. When an OEM transitions repair and exchange services to a third-party provider, operators can be left with fewer options for managing maintenance costs and unexpected component failures.

Honeywell is addressing one of those support challenges with its new Otto LASEREF IV Third-Party Support Program, now available through MSP-Avionics.

As a Premier Dealer for Honeywell MSP-Avionics and Mechanical Programs, West Star Aviation can help qualifying customers add LASEREF IV coverage to their avionics support strategy, providing another option for protecting critical avionics investments and managing long-term operating costs.

Restoring Coverage for LASEREF IV

Honeywell previously ended MSP coverage for LASEREF IV repair and exchange services after those services were licensed to Otto Instruments.

The new third-party support program changes this by allowing qualifying LASEREF IV components to be included within Honeywell MSP-Avionics coverage plans.

For operators continuing to fly aircraft equipped with LASEREF IV, this creates an important new support option for equipment that remains in active service across a substantial portion of the business aviation fleet.

Rather than waiting for a component failure and addressing the resulting repair or exchange expense, operators can take a more predictable approach to managing LASEREF IV support through MSP-Avionics.

How the Program Works

The Otto LASEREF IV Third-Party Support Program is available now through Honeywell MSP-Avionics.

Coverage is priced at $35 per flight hour, per unit, with fleet discounts available for operators covering multiple aircraft.

Eligible LASEREF IV part numbers include:

HG2001GD03

HG2001GD15

HG2001GD40

Because aircraft configuration and existing MSP enrollment can vary, West Star Aviation can help operators review their installed equipment and determine eligibility before adding coverage.

Broad Aircraft Applicability

One of the strengths of the new program is the variety of aircraft platforms eligible for LASEREF IV support.

Honeywell identifies eligible platforms that include:

Dassault Falcon

Additional eligible platforms identified by Honeywell include the Hawker 800/800XP, Dornier 328, Dash 8, and 1000.

This broad applicability makes the program particularly relevant to operators maintaining mature aircraft that continue to satisfy their mission requirements but depend on avionics systems that require specialized aftermarket support.

Why Avionics Coverage Planning Matters

The LASEREF IV program highlights a larger issue facing operators of established business aircraft: avionics lifecycle planning shouldn’t begin when a component fails.

As systems age, repair channels, exchange availability, OEM support, and component costs can change. Understanding those changes — and knowing when new support programs become available — can help operators avoid unexpected expenses and make more informed maintenance decisions.

West Star Aviation works closely with Honeywell and other leading avionics manufacturers to help customers understand available coverage options and determine how those programs fit into the aircraft’s overall maintenance strategy.

That support can include:

MSP-Avionics enrollment and coverage review
