<p>Under a notice of proposed rule making, the FAA would add supersonic airplanes to the applicability of FAR Part&nbsp;36&nbsp;takeoff and landing&nbsp;noise certification regulations. Initially, the proposal would apply to SSTs with a mtow no greater than 150,000 pounds and a maximum cruise speed of Mach 1.8. This category would apply to the SSTs currently being developed for business aviation. Comments on the proposal are due by July 13.</p>
