A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

FBO software systems integrator X-1FBO has introduced the latest enhancement to its Cloud Connect platform for fuel truck operations.&nbsp;The use of the company’s Cloud Connect modem provides a new level of fuel automation for users.
Notably, it moves the tanker’s fuel register information into the X-1FBO system and its Single Point fuel management module. The system allows remote control of the TCS meters, allows users to create on-the-spot fuel tickets, and includes a built-in GPS transmitter to permit the tracking of fuel trucks.
For existing X-1 customers, this provides an enhancement to their operations, as well as an incentive for those looking to adopt the management system.
“From the drawing board to the ramp, we envisioned the X-1 Cloud Connect as the nexus of technology, data, and fueling technology," said company co-founder and CEO Jim Wiley. “Today, seeing it connect devices, trucks, and the cloud with such precision…we’re not just improving fueling operations; we’re transforming how FBOs operate for the future.”
Next week at NBAA-BACE, the company will be demonstrating its X-1 Pilot application, which provides real-time visibility to aircraft operators and service providers. Through the application, users can find FBOs, review their services and fuel prices, and send requests directly to their customer service desks. A complementary wallet feature allows them to save payment methods, view invoices, and pay them.
