A lifelong aviation enthusiast who joined&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;in 2007, Curt came to&nbsp;the publication&nbsp;from the broadcast industry where he was a national science and technology television reporter and producer. He writes on the FBO field, aviation finance, and sustainable aviation and occasionally contributes to&nbsp;AIN&nbsp;sister publication&nbsp;Business Jet Traveler. Curt was a member of the AINtv reporting staff that won the 2008 Aerospace Journalist of the Year award for Best Airshow Daily. That same year, he was a finalist for another AJOYA award. He earned an AJOYA for Best Business Aviation Submission in 2018 and was a finalist in that category in 2021. He received the National Air Transportation Association’s&nbsp; Aviation Journalist Award in 2012 and won a Pegasus Sapphire Business Aviation Award for outstanding journalism in 2021.
Before joining AIN, Curt worked with&nbsp;Consumer Reports’ television division, CRTV, and for several local television news staffs. An honors graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook, he earned a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University in 1995. Curt lives in New York State with his wife and two young sons.

Bangor International Airport (KBGR) in Maine remains closed today following the crash of a Bombardier Challenger 650 on <a href="https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2026-01-26/fatal-challenger-crash-claims-seven-lives">Sunday</a> evening that claimed the lives of all four passengers and two crew on board. 
The Texas-based twinjet had departed Houston’s William P. Hobby Airport (KHOU) and stopped at KBGR for refueling ahead of a trans-Atlantic flight to Paris-Vatry Airport (LFOK) in France. After receiving deicing, the crew attempted to take off in snowy, freezing conditions, only to crash seconds later with the aircraft coming to rest on its back.
NTSB investigators arrived at the airport on Tuesday and requested that the accident scene be preserved. Local police, in collaboration with the state medical examiner’s office, are anticipating approval to access the wreckage and begin the process of identifying the victims.&nbsp;
“When an accident such as this occurs, there are numerous local, state and federal agencies and assets that must coordinate their respective portions of the investigation,” the airport authority said in a statement. “With the large number of stakeholders involved, it is important that information be confirmed and that all parties have completed their work before information is released.”
Dozens of flights into and out of KBGR have been cancelled since its closure due to the accident. Latest estimates call for the airport&nbsp; to reopen on Thursday morning at 9 am.
