<p>Starting Jan. 1, 2026, so-called “open category” drones must meet new product standards. The UK’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has been appointed as the Market Surveillance Authority (MSA) to ensure that drone manufacturers, importers, and distributors comply with the new standards. The open category covers “low-risk drone flights and leisure activities.” The MSA monitoring and enforcing these new standards “means users will have more confidence that drones they purchase are safe and comply with safety standards,” said the CAA.</p>
