The TBM Owners and Pilots Association (TBMOPA) strengthened its focus on flight safety at its recent 2026 annual convention in Phoenix. The three-day event featured Daher Aircraft CEO Nicolas Chabbert, who briefed attendees on the company’s commitment to safety. He listed his key takeaways: prepare, develop scenarios, be alert, compare scenarios, and decide.
“TBMOPA and its members are to be applauded for the commitment to advancing flight safety, especially as the TBM in-service fleet and its aviator community continue to grow—with more than 1,330 airplanes delivered to date,” Chabbert said.
According to TBMOPA, this year’s convention attracted more than 300 attendees, including TBM owners, operators, and service suppliers. Daher Aircraft, a key sponsor of the group, sent representatives to the event. In total, 78 TBMs—including nine of the newest Model 980s—flew to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (KPHX) for the gathering.
A charity auction at the convention also raised $360,000 for the TBMOPA Foundation, which supports aviation-related scholarships, safety seminars, and videos.
“Flight safety is a responsibility that we all share, and this year’s convention once again demonstrated what can be achieved when owners, operators, and the wider TBM community come together with a common purpose,” said TBMOPA chairman JJ Suarez. “We appreciate Daher Aircraft’s continued partnership and its commitment to providing the technology, resources, and expertise that help our members operate their airplanes safely and confidently.”
